Emma Watson's waxwork at Madame Tussauds
English actress Emma Watson -famous for her role as Hermione Granger in Harry Potter and her latest work in The Perks of Being a Wallflower- has joined the wax family at Madame Tussauds. Watson is the second star from the film series to appear be turned into wax; Emma's co-star Daniel Radcliffe -who played the character of Harry Potter himself- joined Tussauds' stars in 2007.
The wax figure immortalises one of Emma's radiant moments at a red carpet event in Hong Kong back in 2011. Then, she wore a midnight blue backless cocktail dress by Elie Saab.
The figure of the 22-year-old is seated on a chaise longue to allow fans to sit next to her and take snaps they have been longing for.
Emma is the perfect addition and we're very lucky to add her to our A-list line up, said Madame Tussauds' spokesperson Nicole Fenner. She is a true English rose known and loved by millions of film and fashion fans around the world.
Nicole Fenner added: "Emma has been one of the most requested wax figurines for a while now, along with One Direction. People really want to see her as she is now. Since Harry Potter, her popularity has increased on an international scale. We have people from all over the world asking for her. Interest in her is only going to escalate."
The waxwork took four months to make, since sculptor Alex Carlisle carefully aimed to recreate Watson's exact likeness. A research team supplied the sculptor with a myriad of red carpet shots, front and black, as well as recent film stills in order to capture her exact proportions. Then, the sculpture was given a brief with what the figurine should be wearing and what pose. The choice of the dress was determined by being the ideal one to encapsulate Emma's playful and fun nature.
The biggest challenge is recreating her expression, that sparkle, said Carlisle. It was important to have her looking beautiful. She has a lovely feel to her, so we had to find the right references. She has to be the correct size and height for it to look authentic.
